Malaysia – My 2nd Home

The Malaysian Government has designed ‘MM2H’ as an attractive settlement plan for people from all countries who meet certain criteria to live in Malaysia. Approved applicants would be given a 10-year Social Visit Pass with a Multiple Entry Visa that is guaranteed renewable unless they have violated the Malaysian Rules & Regulations. There is no minimum period of stay required.
MM2H participants can be investors but are not allowed to work or be employed in the country. Should MM2H candidates be keen to provide their expertise on a voluntary basis, they have to inform MM2H Centre accordingly.
The minimum price allowed for purchase of residential units has been standardized at RM500,000 for all states. It is however not a pre-requisite for MM2H participants to own properties.
Age
This program is opened to foreigners of 18 years old and above. The applicant is allowed to bring along their dependants, schooling or not schooling, and 1 maid.
Finance/ Income
Foreigners married to Malaysians are not eligible for MM2H programme, but can instead apply to the Immigration Department for Spouse or Long Term Stay Visa. Should an MM2H participant marry a Malaysian during the course of his/her stay here, he/she will not be able to renew his/ her MM2H visa, but will be eligible to apply for the Spouse visa.
Foreigners on MM2H visa before 1 April 2006 who are married to Malaysian will continue to enjoy MM2H status, should they apply to renew their visas. Effective 1 June 2007 all MM2H applicants are to be submitted through licensed MM2H agents only. No individual application nor third party applications will be entertained.
Applicants above 50 years of age
1a) Must open a fixed deposit account of RM150,000 (USD45,000) with any bank in Malaysia. ; or
1b) Show proof of monthly off-shore income at least equivalent to RM10,000 (USD3,000) (Drawing from Government Approved Funds only), preferably government pension funds.
2) After a period of one year, participants can withdraw up to RM90,000 (USD27,000) for purchase of houses, medical expenses or children’s education.
3) Participants must maintain a minimum balance of RM60,000 (USD18,000) in the fixed deposit account from the second year onwards and throughout his stay in Malaysia.
Applicants below 50 years of age
1a) Must open a fixed deposit account of RM300,000 (USD89,000) with any bank in Malaysia. ; &
1b) Show Proof of monthly for a period of 3 months, off-shore income of minimum RM10,000 (USD3,000) (e.g. payment slip, bank statement, income tax statement, etc).
2) After a period of one year, the participant can withdraw up to RM240,000 (USD71,000) for purchase of houses, medical expenses or children’s education.
3) Participants must maintain a minimum balance of RM60,000 (USD18,000) in the fixed deposit account from the second year onwards and throughout his stay in Malaysia.
Insurance Coverage/ Medical Report
Applicants must possess a valid medical insurance policy from any insurance company as long as it is applicable in Malaysia, together with a medical report from any recognized medical institution.
Government Tax
Successful applicants are bound by the policies, systems and regulation of tax of Malaysia. Tax exemption is given to pension remitted into Malaysia.
Education
School going children will be given student pass to further their study at international schools, private colleges and universities.

• Copy of birth certificates (if accompanied by children)
• 2 passport sized photos of each applicant and dependent
• Resume outlining your employment for the last ten years
• A certified copy of Marriage Certificate (if accompanied by spouse)
• A certified copy of latest bank statement or related financial document
• Photocopies of passport/ travel document for each applicant and dependent
• 2 copies of application form for Social Visit Pass, IM.12 for each applicant and dependent
• A certified copy of medical insurance and fixed deposit (these documents can be submitted after receiving conditional approval).
Submission of Application
Applications can be made in or outside Malaysia.

Fees
• The fee for the Social Visit Pass under MM2H programme is RM90 per year. This fee can be paid in full for a ten year period for RM900.
• Visa fees are at existing rate applicable to each country (not exceeding RM100)
Required Application for Extension Documents

• Passport and photocopy of passport
• Latest certified fixed deposit
• Payment of RM90 per year for visa
Approval Period
Under normal circumstance approval all applicants which fulfill the required criteria will be processed and approved with 30 working days (about six Weeks) after submission of the application.
Other Benefits
• Participants can import or purchase a new car (CKD/ Locally assembled) tax free. It is a great saving more of than 30% (application has to be made within a certain period).
• Participants are allowed to bring a maid from their country of origin to Malaysia after the approval (subject to Immigration Rules & Regulations)
• For housing loans, participants can obtain up to 80% as compared to normal 60% for foreign applicants (subject to credibility).
• For those countries having a double taxation agreement with Malaysia, pension fund taxable in their country shall be exempted from tax if participants stayed more than 182 days a year in Malaysia.
• Applicants shall receive the Conditional Approval Letter issued by Malaysian Immigration Department within 2-3 months from date of submission of complete documents and have to be in Malaysia to arrange for financial depositing, medical insurance and medical insurance and medical check-up within 6 months from the date of Conditional Approval Letter.
